ABOUT CHARLES E. NEWDORF
Charles E. Newdorf is owner and President
of Touchstone Business Strategies, LLC.
Charlie works with business owners, their key personnel
and external advisors in developing and implementing plans
and programs that serve to help you understand the value
of your business, improve that value by improving profitability
and cash flow and then helping you realize that value through
the sale of your business. The practice serves clients of
various sizes and industry types. Clients include companies
that are considered to be in a healthy condition, "turnaround"
situations, and start-ups.
Charlie became a Certified Public Accountant in New Hampshire
in 1979. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting
with highest honors, from Bentley University, Waltham, MA (1977).
He has also successfully completed graduate level studies
in more than a dozen courses in the areas of taxation, finance,
and business administration.
Charlie has worked at a "Big 4" international accounting
firm and as an Audit Supervisor for the State of New Hampshire
where he managed multiple audit teams conducting financial
and operational audits of various state agencies. From 1982
to 1990 he operated a CPA/consulting practice providing
a variety of accounting and management advisory services
to business start-ups, growing companies and acquisitions.
During this period, his experience included several interim
and full time CFO positions.
Charlie joined the corporate renewal firm of Altman and
Company as a principal in 1990. In 1998 he left Altman and
Company to start his own firm as co-founder of Trident Consulting
Group. Both Altman and Company and Trident Consulting Group
are management-consulting firms that provide turnaround,
crisis management and debt restructuring services to distressed
businesses. As a principal, he worked closely with a variety
of industries where he provided consulting services and
interim CFO services to successfully assist in turnaround
strategy and implementation, crisis management, financial
restructuring, creditor negotiations, business sale and
acquisition issues, strategic growth initiatives, and various
other business matters. Charlie became the President/Principal of Touchstone Business Strategies at the start of 2006.
Since 1990 Charlie has worked on more than 250 client engagements
most of which involved a valuation, either in the form of
collateral or the total business entity, all with the sale
of the valued asset as the focus. He has also been directly
involved in selling more than a dozen businesses or portions
thereof. The valuations conducted have been used in determining
the value to be realized in an orderly wind-down of a business,
the liquidation value of a discontinued enterprise, the
fair market value for the sale of the business, succession
planning, estate planning, determining the value of a minority
interest, pricing partial buyouts of existing shareholders,
gifting of stock of privately held companies and the assessment
of acquisitions.
